A Fertility Space Centered on People of Color

Fertility journeys are deeply personal, and for too long, people of color have been left out of the conversation.

At Oshun Griot, we believe that no one should have to navigate infertility alone. Our goal is to create a compassionate, inclusive space where individuals and couples can find the support, education, and resources they need to make empowered choices about their reproductive health.

We are here to change the narrative, break the silence, and build a future where all fertility journeys are recognized and supported. Our mission is simple yet profound: to create a space where everyone on a fertility journey can feel supported, understood, and empowered.

Why "Oshun Griot"?

Our name reflects our mission:

Oshun – The Yoruba orisha (deity) of fertility, love, healing, and water. A powerful symbol of creation and abundance.

Griot – A West African storyteller, historian, and keeper of wisdom, responsible for preserving history and sharing the experiences of their people.

At Oshun Griot, we honor the tradition of storytelling, healing, and knowledge-sharing, ensuring that our fertility experiences—past, present, and future—are not erased.

How We Got Here

Fertility struggles are often met with silence and stigma—especially in communities of color. For our founder, Reniqua Allen-Lamphere, this silence felt overwhelming.

After years of infertility, multiple rounds of IVF, surgeries, and emotional ups and downs, she realized something was missing: a dedicated space for people of color to feel seen, heard, and supported in their fertility journey.

Rather than wait for that space to appear, she built it.

Oshun Griot was created to amplify our voices, foster community, and change the way fertility care looks and feels for people of color.

At Oshun Griot, We’re Committed to:

  • Fostering a safe, inclusive community where people can connect, share their stories, and find emotional support.

  • Providing culturally relevant, expert-led guidance to help you navigate every stage of your fertility journey—whether you’re trying to conceive naturally, seeking medical treatment, or considering alternative paths to parenthood.

  • Challenging stigma and misinformation by fostering open, honest conversations about infertility, reproductive health, and the unique barriers people of color face.
